Unpacking is a sort of pixel hunt game, but that also sells it short a bit. Unlike pixel hunts, you're not finding a thing but a spot for a thing. For most things, you have many options for where to place it, but poor placement might make your life harder as you continue to unpack. Sometimes, you'll need to place a thing in a certain place. This first requires identifying the thing, which can be a little tricky in some cases, but it's mostly obvious. When it isn't, this is the one aspect of the game I could almost be caught describing as "tedious." It can turn into one of those classic point-and-click-adventure pixel hunts that we all grew to hate in the 80s and 90s. No fail states though, so it does at least have that advantage on the aforementioned classics. But 98% of the time, this game is a relaxing cruise through several years of someone else's life, as told through their belongings. It's like discovering someone's interactive diary, and what a treat that we get to have that thrilling experience!
